Did a NASA Livestream Cut Out As a UFO Entered Earth’s Atmosphere?

UFO hunters may be some of the most vigilant people on Earth. There isn’t much that escapes them, like this rock on Mars that’s definitely a rock, but kind of looks like a face and wound up under the headline “100% Evidence Life Was on Mars.” Another event that hasn’t slipped past those vigilant eyes is that a NASA live feed cut out on July 9 just moments after a UFO appears to enter Earth’s atmosphere.

While UFOs are frequently associated with The X-Files and people with tear-drop-shaped heads, the object is unidentified, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s something crazy, like pod people. The International Space Station live feed experienced signal loss just after the object came into sight, showing a blue screen before the pixelated feed could provide a better sense of what the object might be.

The coincidence wasn’t lost on YouTube UFO hunter streetcap1, who first posted the video (above) and highlighted the oddity. The video has now been viewed 1.7 million times. Theories on what is seen in the video range from pretty conventional, like that this is a meteor or the lost Chinese space station Tiangong-1, to less conventional theories involving a government alien cover-up conspiracy.

NASA hasn’t offered a theory as to what the tiny object might be, but they are squashing speculation that their technicians intentionally shut down the feed. Tabatha Thompson, a spokesperson for NASA, wrote to Valuewalk.com, “The station regularly passes out of range of the Tacking and Relay Data Satellites (TDRS) used to send and receive video, voice, and telemetry from the station. For video, whenever we lose signal (video comes down on our higher bandwidth, called KU) the cameras will show a blue screen (indicating no signal) or a preset video slate, depending on where you are watching the feed.”

NASA told the Mail Online that, “Reflections from station windows, the spacecraft structure itself or lights from Earth commonly appear as artefacts in photos and videos from the orbiting laboratory.” Classic weather balloon stuff there.

It’s probably a bit of a stretch to assume that this UFO is the kind of UFO featured in Independence Day and not just some meteor or satellite. But whatever, dream on UFO hunters.
